About Palmetto Strings & Founders, Mike + Lauren Williams
Music Isn’t Just a Career, it’s Family
Mike + Lauren Williams are a husband and wife team, that created Palmetto Strings together in early 2007. Mike and Lauren met at the College of Charleston where they both majored in music performance, and decided that it would be the career they could share together.
We believe we bring something special and unique to our performances. Working together has always been a joy in our own relationship, and has made it stronger, because we both love music, and love seeing the positive impact music can have for our clients and guests.
While we both perform on violin, Mike also enjoys arranging and writing music for our ensembles, as well as recording at our studio. Lauren is in constant contact with our clients and event planners, who know and trust us.
Music’s been in our families for generations. In Mike’s family, at least three generations back, fiddle/violin has been played by someone in the family. He’s restored their fiddles and even plays them from time to time. Mike’s performed since 2001 with his father, Bob Williams on a regular basis as the Williams Duo. They have set the standard for guitar oriented wedding music in Charleston, that others have imitated. Lauren’s father performs at restaurants and events in Florida as a pianist and vocalist. Performing music is a family tradition – it felt very natural for us to make it our career.
We have chosen the best musicians in Charleston and the surrounding areas to perform with that share our love of music. Many celebrities and politicians we’ve performed for over the years include Kevin Bacon, Mel Gibson, Governor of South Carolina, President Bush Sr, and many others. It was a pleasure performing for President Bush Sr. with the PGA Board of Directors.
Let us give you a ‘musical’ taste of southern hospitality, from our family to yours.
